My main clinic is in the MyLocalDoc clinic in Chermside Health Hub on Brisbane’s Northside. I work there Monday’s and Tuesdays. I also have a home clinic in Kedron about two minutes from my main office. Each location has a different ‘vibe’ with my home clinic suiting clients who prefer a less clinical environment. I also offer sessions in my private garden for those who find being in nature soothing and helpful for therapy. This is in my rainforest garden and has a peaceful atmosphere. Full privacy at all locations is assured.

Yes I offer Medicare Rebates for those on a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Medicare allows 10 subsidised sessions per calendar year. The current rebate is $98.95 per 50 minute session. Your doctor can write a MHCP for you and give you a referral. You are able to use your MHCP with any registered psychologist regardless of which psychologist your doctor initially referred you to.

I am not an NDIS registered provider, but have provided services to clients with an NDIS plan who are self or plan managed. You will need to check your plan and/or with your plan manager to assess your eligibility.

I am available for sessions from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. After hours and weekend sessions are available for an additional fee.

I offer a social inclusion service for those of low financial means. Eligibility is via application and availability is limited. Subsidised sessions are only available in off-peak times (usually morning sessions). You are required to provide a health care card and/or proof of low income. I do not offer bulk billed (fully rebated) psychology services.

Yes I offer telehealth via phone call or videocall using Teams or Zoom. Video is preferred as I often share documents and results which I cannot do in a voice only format.
Preferably your first session will be face to face, but I offer a full mix of session types based on your preference.

Whilst it’s impossible to make a recommendation about the number of sessions you need without knowing your situation and treating issue, I can tell you what is most common with the clients that I see.
Most of my clients will see me on a fortnightly or monthly basis. Some come weekly or do an intensive phase where they will have multiple sessions in quick succession before having a period of absence. This is often due to work situations.
At your first session I will discuss with you what I think the ideal frequency might be given your situation and treating issue. This is just a recommendation and it is ultimately for you to decide what would most benefit you.
Ultimately there is no pressure to continue your therapy or to have a certain number of sessions. What is most important is that you feel like it’s helping you achieve your goals.

Each of my clients is different so many will come with nerves, fears and anxieties. It’s natural to be anxious with a new person and environment. Starting therapy can be confronting and challenging.
At your first session I’ll take a detailed medical, psychological, social, relational and occupational history from you. I might get you to complete some assessments prior to your appointment as well. This all helps me get context about what’s brought you to therapy, what you want to achieve and what treatments might be appropriate.
At the end of the session I’ll provide a recommendation about whether I’m a good fit for you, how many sessions you might need and what therapy approaches would be appropriate.
Initial sessions can be 1 hour, but 1.5hrs is ideal for a full history to be taken.

I am not currently certified as a couples therapist. Any couples work that I do is in the context of individual therapy (such as asking to have a separate and/or joint session with a romantic partner to gather additional context and insights to help therapy).
Many of my clients come to me for relationship, intimacy and sex therapy. Some of these clients are in a relationship and some are not. Relationship and sex therapy is not always done in the context of couples therapy, so I help individuals to improve their self-awareness and give practical skills to achieve goals and functional improvement.

Yes. Many clients experience headaches, tight shoulders, shallow breathing, or stomach tension due to stress. Somatic therapy helps the body release stored tension, regulate the nervous system, and reduce physical symptoms of anxiety.

Finding the right psychologist can be daunting, confusing and overwhelming. Getting the right one makes a massive difference to the outcomes you achieve so it’s important to get it right.
I focus heavily on ensuring I’m the right fit for you, and if I feel that I’m not I’ll let you know. This is often when the things we’re discussing exceed the limits of my training, experience and skill. If this is the case I’ll try and find a more suitable psychologist to refer you to.
You’ll generally know if you’ve found the right psychologist if:
You feel connected with what they say in their bio / website
You feel relaxed during sessions
You’re comfortable talking to them about sensitive topics
You trust them
You feel like they won’t judge you, regardless of anything you might say
The psychologist indicates that they see clients with similar issues

Yes. My approach is trauma-informed, gentle, and paced to suit clients who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or hyperaware. You will be guided step-by-step through techniques that feel safe and manageable.

I use a range of evidence-based psychological approaches based on your needs and goals. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Embodiment Counselling, and mindfulness and relaxation training. I integrate somatic and trauma informed practices.

I do psychometric assessments with some clients if there is therapeutic value. This includes assessing things like your anxiety, stress and depression levels, neurodiversity traits, maladaptive schemas (mental blueprints) and trauma experiences.
I do not provide formal diagnostic services for the purposes of NDIS or other health services. Such diagnostics are usually undertaken by a Clinical Psychologist.
I do provide informal assessments for things like autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder and others. These assessments are for your development and self-awareness purposes to facilitate growth and progress towards your goals. For these assessments I’ll provide you with a brief report and explain results to you in session.
